Lesson number 1. We shouldn't be afraid of carbohydrates. It is a very important energy source but fat is a better one. By increasing your protein intake you force the body to eventually switch to burning fat for energy. Limiting carbohydrates from your diet for 4-5 days encourages your body to tap into its fat stores.
Lesson number 2. Increasing your water intake helps to flush your body of sodium. The average person walks around with 5-7 pounds of extra water. Here's where it gets weird. Drinking water helps us to retain less. Sounds crazy right? Here's the science of water in our bodies. If we don't drink water, our body goes into survival mode and holds on to it for dear life. Foods high in sodium exacerbate this effect. Once our body realizes it's getting water on a consistent basis, it will hold on to less. I love this part because you will feel a huge difference 2-3 days into it. Your skin and energy will improve as well.
Lesson 3. Weight training and cardio. To turn your body into a fat burning machine, you must perform resistance movements along with uninterrupted cardiovascular endurance training. Weight training boosts your metabolism and fights against diabetes and osteoporosis. Cardio burns stored fat.
